A wonderful story, even the best story ever told, can be your life.

This month I attended my first TEDx event, so in addition to taking notes as usual, I decided to journal my experience. I wrote out every thought I had, any inspiration I received, and any reflections I had.

I made the decision to share what I had written on both my Instagram and WhatsApp statuses, and boom!

I got a lot of engagement on the post.

The response was really positive.

We all enjoy reading stories.

Stories have this way of making us connect to ourselves. You may not have known me in my secondary school days but when I begin to share stories of my days in secondary school days, you begin to know more about me, my personality, attitude, and a whole lot based on what I share.

Where am I heading to?

Your life can be a great story.

Yes, you can read that again.

And that story can be one of the greatest ever told.

There was something I did when the ASUU strike was prolonged for 2 months after the first month; I recorded a voice note of the story I will tell in the next two months when the strike is called off. Unfortunately; the strike wasn't called off, but I was guided because I was conscious that I am living out a story I already told.

No matter what your beliefs are, I can tell you this. If your story isn’t as meaningful or compelling as you want it to be, you can change it. You can begin writing a new story, beginning today.

Don’t settle for being merely a teller of stories about significance. Decide to be the story of significance. Become the central character in your story of making a difference.

This is a topic that has been big in my mind, putting yourself into a story and living out that story. This begs the question I asked at the beginning of the month, what is your life at the end of the year, and what story do you want to tell at the end of a particular time?

Answering these questions makes you accountable for your actions at every moment, you will be able to answer the question of your actions playing out what has been written in the script.

The amazing thing is that, when you notice you have been acting what is not in the script and your actions are not leading you aright, you can change the story and begin to live out the new script.

Mahatma Gandhi said to be the change you want to see in the world.

I will end with this, be the change you want to see in yourself. The world can only be transformed by what has transformed you. So you want to tell a story, live out the story and you want the world to read.

To have a life that matters, you have to start. Start with yourself. Your best story begins when you put yourself back into it.

So take the step today, write out the story you want to tell of yourself, what you want people to say about you let's say a year from now and begin to live that story.

I will be writing more in this line next week.

Till then, blessings.
